Build a traditional Greenland kayak in Victoria, BC

The World Greenland Kayak Champion is exclusively teaming up with Ocean River Sports to offer a once in a lifetime chance to build your own traditional Greenland Kayak. This program is offered over 8 consecutive days and com-bines age old techniques and modern day knowledge escorted by a true specialist. 2010 Dates: Sept 15th to Sept 22nd

Times: 8 am – 5 pm

Location: Ocean River Sports rural workshop in Saanich, Victoria BC

Course Cost: $1450 (& materials sold at cost) = $1995 total

Ages: 19 and up

Day 1 : Ripping Gunwhales & Stringers
Day 2 : Finish gunwhales & install deck beams
Day 3 : Finish deck beams & install keel, start bending ribs & llashing into place
Day 4 : Finish stringers & rib lashing. Shape & connect bow & stern
Day 5 : Complete frames & oil wood. Bend cockpit.
Day 6 : Skin the kayak. Sew bow & stern seams & install cockpit.
Day 7 : Goop the skinned kayak
Day 8 : Finishing touches & extra time
