Kayaking Video Online
If they say that a picture is worth a thousand words, what could they say about video? There is a web site, ShowMeTV, which plays video excerpts from various sporting activities including kayaking. Eight video clips from Performance Sea Kayaking and thirteen others from The Kayaker's Edge, both featuring kayaker Kent Ford, as well as clips from Surf Kayaking and Kayaking Ocean Rocks are featured on this site.
Although downloading video on a slow modem may take some time, it is well worth the wait. Click here to see the ShowMeTV site and scroll down the page to the kayaking section..
Stolen Kayaks
I now switch to a less upbeat but more important topic-stolen kayaks. Whether you have recently been the target of such a theft, are looking to buy a used kayak, or just wanting to take precautions, there are some sites that you should visit.
Mariner Kayaks: www.marinerkayaks.com has a very good list of stolen kayaks which you can check out if you are buying a used kayak-or you can post to if you're unfortunate enough have had your kayak stolen. ItsBeenStolen.com lists many items, including kayaks, with the added feature of registering your serial number as a precaution, before you have problems.
And check out the Boulder Outdoor Center's paddle-sports-specific National Bulletin Board for lost, stolen, or found boats and gear, www.boc123.com.
Encourage paddling shop owners to post lists of stolen boats, or suggest your paddling club posts notices in its newsletter or passes lists around in meetings.
These and many other links to paddling info on the web can be found on the WaveLength website. From the home page just click on "Paddling Logo Links" or "More Links" to see our extensive list.
